Meet our new Youth Minister

My name is Moira McDermott Triezenberg, and I am very excited to start this role as the youth minister for the parish. I have been a part of this parish since I was born and have been blessed to grow up in a community that helped me grow in my faith. From singing in the choir since I was seven to becoming an altar server, lector, and Eucharistic minister, I have witnessed the closeness of this community and felt uplifted and supported throughout my life. 

In college, I became involved in my university's campus ministry program, and this is where I experienced a sincere strengthening in my faith and relationship with God. I was a retreat leader and coordinator, sacristan for residence hall Masses, member and leader of three Christian life communities, and involved in praise and worship Adoration services along with Mass choir. After graduating, I attended World Youth Day in Poland in 2016. This experience had a profound impact on my faith and changed my life. Being surrounded by millions of other Catholics my age gave me hope that I had never felt before. Upon returning from Poland, I was hired by St. Christopher School within the week and knew it was God guiding me on this next step in my life. I have taught at the school for nine years now. Just as God called me to be a teacher, I know God is calling me in this role as youth minister. I am honored and blessed to say yes to this calling. 

I want to extend an invitation to all high school aged members of our parish to please join us today for our first meeting at 4:00 in Unit D, door 210. I want to hear what the desires and needs are from our youth as we work together to form a ministry that can help our youth grow and strengthen their faith. 

Mi nombre es Moira McDermott Triezenberg y estoy muy emocionada de comenzar este rol como ministra de jóvenes de la parroquia. He sido parte de esta parroquia desde que nací y he tenido la bendición de estar en una comunidad que me ayudó a crecer en mi fe. Canté en el coro desde que tenía siete años hasta convertirme en monaguilla, lectora y ministra de la Eucaristía. En todo ello he sido testigo de la cercanía de esta comunidad y me he sentido apoyada a lo largo de mi vida.

En la universidad, me involucré en el programa de ministerio del campus de mi universidad, y allí es donde experimenté un fortalecimiento sincero en mi fe y mi relación con Dios. Fui líder y coordinadora de retiros, sacristana de las misas de la residencia universitaria, miembro y líder de tres comunidades de vida cristiana y participé en servicios de alabanza y adoración junto con el coro de la misa. Después de graduarme, asistí a la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud en Polonia en 2016. Esta experiencia tuvo un profundo impacto en mi fe y cambió mi vida. Estar rodeada de millones de otros católicos de mi edad me dio una esperanza que nunca antes había sentido. Al regresar de Polonia, me contrataron en la escuela San Christopher en una semana y supe que era Dios quien me guiaba en este siguiente paso en mi vida. He enseñado en la escuela durante nueve años. Así como Dios me llamó a ser maestra, sé que Dios me está llamando a este papel como ministra de jóvenes. Me siento honrada y bendecida de poder decir sí a este llamado.

Quiero extender una invitación a todos los miembros de nuestra parroquia que estén en edad de escuela secundaria para que nos veamos hoy en nuestra primera reunión a las 4:00 pm en la Unidad D, puerta 210. Quiero escuchar cuáles son los deseos y las necesidades de nuestros jóvenes al trabajar juntos para formar un ministerio que pueda ayudar a nuestros jóvenes a crecer y fortalecer su fe.
