Fr. Robinson's Message 4/13/25

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We begin a whole week of immediate preparation to celebrate Easter, which we call Holy Week, from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday.

April 13: On Palm Sunday, we will come together with palms in our hands to commemorate Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. As the crowds acclaimed Jesus at that time, we will also sing: "Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; hosanna in the highest" (Matthew 21:9).

April 17: On Holy Thursday, we will celebrate the Mass of the Lord's Supper, with which the Catholic Church remembers that Jesus Christ instituted the sacrament of the Eucharist, the sacrament of Holy Orders, and gave us the commandment to love one another (we will do the washing of feet).

April 18: On Good Friday, we will commemorate the Passion and Death of Jesus, the Son of God, who gave his life to redeem humanity, to reopen the gates of heaven for us, and to give us the hope of eternal life. On that day, we will hold the Stations of the Cross in the streets, and we will also worship the Cross, the wood on which Christ gave his life, which has become a symbol of victory over sin and death.

April 19: On Holy Saturday at noon, we will bless the Easter food. In the evening, we will celebrate the great Easter Vigil, with the blessing of the fire, the blessing of the water, baptisms, and confirmations. We will solemnly celebrate the holy night on which Christ rose again from death.

April 20: On Easter Sunday, we will celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord, which is the culminating truth of our faith in Christ. We will celebrate that Jesus Christ has risen, is present in every moment of our lives, awaits us in heaven, and invites us to follow him there where He is.

I invite you to experience these Christian celebrations with great intensity and a living faith.

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas,

Comenzamos una semana de preparación inmediata a la Pascua, la cual llamamos Semana Santa, que va desde el Domingo de Ramos hasta el Domingo de Pascua.

13 de abril: El Domingo de Ramos nos acompañaremos con palmas en nuestras manos para conmemorar la entrada de Jesús a Jerusalén. Como la muchedumbre aclamaba a Jesús en aquella época, nosotros también cantaremos: “¡Hosanna! ¡Viva el Hijo de David! ¡Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor! ¡Hosanna en el cielo!” (Mateo 21, 9).

17 de abril: El Jueves Santo celebraremos la Misa de la Cena del Señor, con la cual la Iglesia Católica celebra que Jesucristo instituyó el sacramento de la Eucaristía, el sacramento del Orden Sacerdotal, y nos dio el mandamiento del amor (con el lavatorio de los pies).

18 de abril: El Viernes Santo conmemoraremos la Pasión y Muerte de Jesús, el Hijo de Dios que dio la vida por rescatar al ser humano, por abrirnos nuevamente las puertas del cielo y darnos la esperanza de la vida eterna. Ese día tendremos el Santo Viacrucis por las calles y también adoraremos la cruz, el madero en el que Cristo entregó su vida. Un madero que ahora es símbolo de victoria sobre el pecado y la muerte.

19 de abril: El Sábado Santo bendeciremos la comida pascual, algunos alimentos que usarán el Domingo de Pascua. En la noche, celebraremos la gran Vigilia Pascual, con la bendición del fuego, bendición del agua, bautismos y confirmaciones. Celebraremos solemnemente la noche santa en la que Cristo resucitó.

20 de abril: El Domingo de Pascua celebraremos la Resurrección del Señor, la cual es la verdad culminante de nuestra fe en Cristo. Celebraremos que Jesucristo ha resucitado, está presente en cada momento de nuestra existencia, nos espera en el cielo y nos invita a seguirlo allí a donde está Él.

Los invito a que vivamos estas celebraciones cristianas con gran intensidad y con una fe profunda.
