December 4, 2022Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I want to thank all of you who are part of the different ministries and organizations in the parish. In particular, my special thanks to the Women’s Welcoming Team. They generously gave us the Holy Moments book last weekend. I hope that we can all read these beautiful reflections and apply them to our own lives. I especially invite young people to take advantage of this opportunity to reflect on their lives and to find some inspiration and motivation to deepen their own knowledge and relationship with God.
As you may notice, beginning on the First Sunday of Advent, all the altar servers are wearing the same color of cassocks. At Masses in English they used to have white albs and at Masses in Spanish they wore red and white cassocks. We noticed that many of the white albs were stained and some of the altar servers were getting taller, so the vestments would need to be replaced. Therefore, I asked the Unification Team in October what decision we could make. It was important that our altar servers wear the same color at all Masses. The Unification Team suggested that the cassocks should be red and white for everyone. I appreciate the generosity of our parishioners. I especially thank Elsa Gutiérrez, one of the mothers of the altar servers, who was the person who made all the cassocks. Thanks to Elsa for her generosity putting her talents at the service of our community.
Finally, as I wrote a week ago, from December 3rd to 12th the celebrations of Our Lady of Guadalupe are taking place in our parish. This is a Marian dedication that began in Mexico, but has spread throughout the American continent from Canada to Argentina. Rightly so, in 1945 Pope Pius XII proclaimed her Empress of the Americas.
Every night we have the bilingual Rosary at 6:00 pm and Mass at 7:00 pm. I have invited different priests to preside over the Eucharist on most of those days. The Rosary will be directed by different members and ministries of the community. At the end of each night, different ministries will offer champurrado, bread, and other foods for sale so that we can share together. The main theme of our Novena will be unity. Each night there will be a special emphasis to continue cultivating and growing as a parish community. I encourage you to invite your family, friends and acquaintances to join us in the Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
May Our Lady of Guadalupe intercede for our community as we prepare our hearts for the encounter with Our Lord Jesus Christ at Christmas.

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas,
Quiero agradecer a todos ustedes que hacen parte de los distintos ministerios y organizaciones en la parroquia. En particular, mi agradecimiento especial a las Mujeres del Equipo de Bienvenida. Generosamente nos regalaron el libro Momentos Sagrados el fin de semana pasado. Espero que todos podamos leer estas bellas reflexiones y aplicarlas en nuestras propias vidas. Invito especialmente a los jóvenes para que aprovechen esta oportunidad de reflexionar acerca de sus vidas y de encontrar algo de inspiración y motivación para ahondar en su propio conocimiento y la relación con Dios.
Como pueden notarlo, comenzando el Primer Domingo de Adviento, los monaguillos están usando el mismo color de sotanas. En las misas en inglés usaban el color blanco y en la misas en español el rojo y blanco. Notamos que muchas de las albas blancas estaban manchadas y necesitarían ser reemplazadas. Por lo tanto, le pregunté al Equipo de Unificación en octubre qué decisión podíamos tomar. Era importante que nuestros monaguillos usaran el mismo color en todas las misas. El Equipo de Unificación sugirió que las sotanas deberían ser rojas y blancas para todos. Agradezco la generosidad de nuestros parroquianos. Especialmente agradezco a Elsa Gutiérrez, una de las madres de los monaguillos, quien fue la persona que hizo todas las sotanas. Gracias a Elsa por su generosidad poniendo sus talentos al servicio de nuestra comunidad.
Finalmente, como escribí hace una semana, del 3 al 12 de diciembre empiezan las celebraciones de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Esta es una advocación mariana que comenzó en México, pero que se ha distribuido por todo el continente americano desde Canadá hasta Argentina. Con razón, en 1945 el Papa Pio XII la proclamó Emperatriz de las Américas.
Cada noche tendemos el Rosario bilingüe a las 6:00 pm y la Misa a las 7:00 pm. He invitado a distintos sacerdotes para que presidan la eucaristía en la mayoría de esos días. El Rosario será dirigido por distintos miembros y ministerios de la comunidad. Al final de cada noche, distintos ministerios ofrecerán a la venta champurrado, pan, y otras comidas para que podamos compartir juntos. El tema principal de nuestra Novena será la unidad. Cada noche habrá un énfasis especial para seguir cultivando y creciendo como comunidad parroquial. Los animo a que inviten a sus familiares, amigos y conocidos para que nos acompañen en la Novena a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.
Que Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe interceda por nuestra comunidad al preparar nuestros corazones para el encuentro con Nuestro Señor Jesucristo en la Navidad.
