Fr. Robinson&#039;s Message 9/24/23

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I would like to report that the net profit from Kermés 2023 was $26,200. I thank all the parishioners who were associated in one way or another to Kermés. Thank you to those who bought the raffle, prepared the food, sold tickets, helped us put up the tents and everything necessary for our event, thank you to those who made their donations in church and the office, to the confirmation youth for their support in the different areas, thanks to our parishioners from the different ministries who were in charge of the sales in the tents, to the musical groups that entertained the attendees, to those who lent us tents, tables and chairs, to those who donated their talent to make the flyers in each tent, in short to all those who made this Kermés a wonderful family event. Despite a little rain, we saw many parishioners and visitors enjoying the food, drinks, and each other's company at Kermés.

I want to announce now that I am thinking of suggesting that we do an international Kermés sometime in the winter, perhaps in February before Lent. The idea is that we have food and drinks from different parts of the world. We would gather in the school gym to celebrate our multicultural parish community. I will soon organize a committee to look into the possibility of doing this event.

This Monday, September 25, clergy and lay leaders from all parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago will gather at the Rosemont Theater for a Day of Renewal. This will be a good opportunity for parish representatives to renew our commitment to evangelization through prayer, conferences and interacting with other parishes. The Cardinal asked that priests and deacons go with five more leaders. The following are our parish representatives: Deacon Bob Powers, Christina Ciurej (director of operations), Sue Calder (school vice principal), Claudia Montiel (Hispanic leader), Ray Woodworth (Pastoral Council), Brenna Baker (religious education), and me. I ask all parishioners to pray on this day for all parishes in the Archdiocese, so that together we can respond to the challenges of our time and renew our evangelizing mission as a church.

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas,

Quisiera reportar que la ganancia neta de la Kermés 2023 fue de $26,200. Agradezco a todos los parroquianos que se vincularon de una u otra forma a la Kermés. Gracias a quienes compraron la rifa, prepararon la comida, vendieron boletos, nos ayudaron a poner las carpas y todo lo necesario para nuestro evento, gracias a quienes hicieron sus donaciones en la iglesia y la oficina, a los jóvenes de confirmación por su apoyo en las distintas áreas de la jornada, gracias a nuestros parroquianos de los distintos ministerios que se encargaron de las ventas en las carpas, a los grupos musicales que amenizaron la Kermés, a quienes nos prestaron carpas, mesas y sillas, a quienes donaron su talento para hacer los anuncios en cada carpa, en fin a todos aquellos que hicieron de esta Kermés un evento familiar maravilloso. A pesar de un poco de lluvia, pudimos a ver a parroquianos y visitantes disfrutando de la comida, bebidas, y de la compañía de cada uno en la Kermés.

Desde ya quiero anunciarles que estoy pensando en sugerir que hagamos una Kermés internacional en algún momento del invierno, tal vez en febrero antes de la Cuaresma. La idea es que tengamos comida y bebidas de distintas partes del mundo. Nos congregaríamos en el gimnasio de la escuela para celebrar nuestra multiculturalidad como comunidad parroquial. Pronto organizaré un comité para ver la posibilidad de hacer este evento.

Este lunes 25 de septiembre, clérigos y líderes laicos de todas las parroquias de la Arquidiócesis de Chicago, nos reuniremos en el Teatro Rosemont para un Día de Renovación. Esta será una buena oportunidad para que representantes de las parroquias podamos renovar nuestro compromiso con la evangelización a través de a oración, conferencias y el interactuar con otras parroquias. El Cardenal pidió que los sacerdotes y diáconos vayamos con cinco líderes más. Para representar a nuestra parroquia iremos: el diácono Powers, Christina Ciurej (directora de operaciones), Sue Calder (vicedirectora de la escuela), Claudia Montiel (líder hispana), Ray Woodworth (Concejo Pastoral), Brenna Baker (educación religiosa), y yo. Solicito a todos los parroquianos que oren en este día por todas las parroquias en la Arquidiócesis, de modo que juntos podamos responder a los desafíos de nuestra época y renovemos nuestra misión evangelizadora como iglesia.
