Fr. Robinson's Message 7/10/22

July 10, 2022Dear brothers and sisters,
This week the St. Christopher Fiesta will take place. What a wonderful opportunity for all of us to come together as a community to celebrate during this season of summer and grow in fellowship. I invite you to participate in the various activities that the Fiesta leaders have prepared. Among them we can find the carnival, bingo, raffle, and many more activities for children, youth and adults. It is also possible to volunteer or do hours of social service. There is more information on the middle pages of the bulletin.
From Monday to Thursday of this week I will be participating in a conference for pastors with schools at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. I am very excited to be able to attend this workshop, in which I am sure I will learn a lot about Catholic schools, and I especially hope to receive many ideas to share and better serve students, parents, teachers and employees at our St. Christopher School.
I thank the priests who celebrate some of the Eucharists this weekend in our parish: Fr. Daniel Villalobos of St. Michael in Orland Park and Fr. Michael Olson of St. Damian in Oak Forest. I remind you that the celebration of the Mass on the weekend continues at its normal times in each of the churches of our Parish. The weekday Mass is only at St. Christopher's Monday through Saturday at 8:30 am.
Finally, this weekend I invite you to keep in our prayers the victims and families of the shootings that have occurred this week, especially our brothers and sisters in Highland Park. I pray, as Cardinal Cupich also said in his statement, that “the Lord of mercy embrace in love those who have died, bring healing to the wounded, comfort to their loved ones, and courage to all of us, so that we may respond to this tragedy united as God’s children to build a path to safety and peace.”

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
Esta semana tendrá lugar la fiesta de San Christopher. Qué bonita oportunidad para que todos podamos encontrarnos como una comunidad para celebrar durante este tiempo del verano y crecer en fraternidad. Los invito para que participemos de las diversas actividades que los líderes de la fiesta han preparado. Entre ellas podemos encontrar el carnaval, el bingo, la rifa, y muchas más actividades para niños, jóvenes y adultos. También es posible ser voluntario o cumplir horas de servicio social. Hay más información en las páginas de la mitad del boletín.
Del lunes al jueves de esta semana estaré participando en una conferencia para párrocos con escuelas en la Universidad de Notre Dame en South Bend, Indiana. Estoy muy ilusionado de poder asistir a este encuentro, en el cual estoy seguro que aprenderé mucho acerca de las escuelas católicas, y especialmente espero poder recibir muchas ideas para compartir y servir de la mejor manera a los estudiantes, padres de familia, maestros y empleados en nuestra escuela de San Christopher.
Agradezco a los sacerdotes que celebran algunas de las eucaristías este fin de semana en nuestra parroquia: el P. Daniel Villalobos de St. Michael en Orland Park y el P. Michael Olson de St. Damian en Oak Forest. Les recuerdo que la celebración de la Misa en el fin de semana continúa en su horario normal en cada una de las iglesias de nuestra Parroquia. La Misa de entre semana es solo en San Christopher de lunes a sábado a las 8:30 am.
Finalmente, este fin de semana los invito a tener muy en cuenta en nuestras oraciones a las víctimas y familiares de los tiroteos que han ocurrido durante esta semana, de manera especial a nuestros hermanos y hermanas en Highland Park. Ruego al cielo, como lo dijo también el Cardenal Cupich, “que el Señor misericordioso acoja con amor a aquellos que han fallecido, sane a los heridos, consuele a sus seres queridos, y nos dé la valentía a todos de responder a esta tragedia unidos como hijos e hijas de Dios para construir un sendero de seguridad y paz.”
