March 31, 2023Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We begin the celebration of the Holy Week, which starts with Palm Sunday. On this day, we commemorate the triumphal entrance of Christ into Jerusalem. With our palms and branches, we will praise the king of our lives, the one who is with us in every moment of our existence, the one who can free us from any slavery.
During Holy Week we will celebrate the Easter Triduum, three special moments that take us into the mystery of the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and that run from Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday.
On Holy Thursday, we will gather for Morning Prayer (9 am) and at night to remember the celebration of the Last Supper and the washing of the feet (7 pm). In this liturgy, we will commemorate the institution of the Eucharist, of the ministerial priesthood, and of the mandate to love one another. I invite everyone on that day to bring bread to be blessed, then distributed with their families and shared with those most in need. After Mass, the church will remain open for Eucharistic adoration until 11 pm.
On Good Friday we will commemorate the Passion, death and burial of our Lord Jesus Christ. Early we will meet for morning prayer (9 am). Then at 11 for the living Stations of the Cross in Spanish through the streets of Midlothian. We will witness the remembrance that several of our parishioners have been preparing for weeks on the last moments of Christ's life. Then we will have the Adoration of the Cross in Spanish. I invite everyone to bring a crucifix to this way of the cross. In the afternoon we will have the Stations of the Cross in English (3 pm) and the Celebration of the Passion of the Lord and the Adoration of the Cross in English (7 pm). At night, I invite you to accompany Mary, our Mother, in a procession (8:30 pm).
On Holy Saturday we will have morning prayer (9 am). Then at noon I invite you for the blessing of the Easter food baskets. In this beautiful tradition, families bring the food that they will prepare on Easter Sunday. At night we will gather for the most important liturgical celebration of the year: the Great Easter Vigil (7:30 pm). During this celebration, we will have the blessing of fire, the meditation of the Word of God, the blessing of baptismal water, the baptism and confirmation of some of our parishioners. We will offer you a small candle for the Liturgy, but you can also buy a paschal candle in our store by the exit on the right side of the sanctuary. On that night, we will celebrate that Christ is risen, that God is alive and is present in our hearts every day of our lives.
Finally, on Easter Sunday, we will gather to celebrate with great solemnity the victory of Christ over sin and death. On this glorious day, all of us Christians put on our physical and spiritual gala attire and come together as a church to celebrate the core of our faith: the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Brothers and Sisters, do not miss out on participating in these great celebrations of our faith. Let yourself be embraced by the love of Christ who humbles himself to wash our feet, who allows himself to be crucified for us, and who is risen for our own glory. Christ rises and I hope that we also rise with Him, that we have abundant life.

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas,
Nos disponemos a celebrar la Semana Santa, que comienza con el Domingo de Ramos. En este día, conmemoramos la entrada triunfal de Cristo en Jerusalén. Con nuestras palmas y ramos, alabaremos al rey de nuestras vidas, a aquel a quien queremos que siga presente en cada momento de nuestra existencia, a aquel que puede liberarnos de cualquier esclavitud.
El Jueves Santo nos reuniremos para la oración de la mañana (9 am) y en la noche para recordar la celebración de la Última Cena y el lavatorio de los pies (7:00 pm). En esta liturgia, vamos a conmemorar la institución de la Eucaristía, del sacerdocio ministerial y del mandato de amarnos unos a otros. Invito para que todos en ese día traigan pan para ser bendecido, después repartido con sus familias y compartido con los más necesitados. Después de la Misa, el templo permanecerá abierto para la adoración eucarística hasta las 11 pm.
El Viernes Santo conmemoraremos la Pasión, muerte y sepultura de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Temprano nos reuniremos para la oración de la mañana (9 am). Luego a las 11 para el Santo Viacrucis viviente en español por las calles de Midlothian. Seremos testigos de la rememoración que varios de nuestros parroquianos han estado preparando por semanas de los últimos momentos de la vida de Cristo. Luego tendremos la Adoración de la Cruz en español. Invito a todos para que traigan un crucifijo a este camino de la cruz. En la tarde tendremos el Viacrucis en inglés (3 pm) y la Celebración de la Pasión del Señor y la Adoración de la Cruz en inglés (7 pm). En la noche, los invito para que acompañemos a María, nuestra Madre, en una procesión (8:30 pm).
El Sábado Santo tendremos la oración de la mañana (9 am). Luego al medio día los invito para la bendición de las canastas de comida pascuales. En esta bonita tradición las familias traen la comida que prepararán en el Domingo de Pascua. En la noche nos congregaremos para la celebración litúrgica más importante del año: la Gran Vigilia Pascual (7:30 pm). Durante esta celebración, tendremos la bendición del fuego, la meditación de la Palabra de Dios, la bendición del agua bautismal, la confirmación y el bautismo de algunos de nuestros parroquianos. Les ofreceremos una pequeña vela para la Liturgia, pero también pueden comprar un cirio pascualito en nuestra tienda por la salida del lado derecho del santuario. En esa noche, celebraremos que Cristo resucita, que Dios está vivo y se hace presente en nuestros corazones todos los días de nuestra vida.
Finalmente, el Domingo de Pascua nos reuniremos para celebrar con gran solemnidad la victoria de Cristo sobre el pecado y sobre la muerte. En este glorioso día, todos nosotros Cristianos Católicos nos ponemos nuestro traje de gala físico y espiritual, y nos congregamos como iglesia para celebrar el centro de nuestra fe: la Resurrección de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
Hermanos y Hermanas, no dejen de participar en estas grandes celebraciones de nuestra fe. Déjense abrazar por el amor de Cristo que se abaja a lavarnos los pies, que se deja crucificar por nosotros, y que es resucitado por el Padre para nuestra propia gloria. Cristo resucita y ojalá que también resucitemos con Él, que tengamos vida en abundancia.
