Fr. Robinson's Message 2/16/25

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I would like to renew my invitation for everyone to attend the Parish Mission taking place February 24-27.

What is a Parish Mission?

A parish mission is a time of spiritual renewal for a church, which includes Eucharistic adoration, the hearing of confessions, and the preaching of repentance and catechesis.

Two years ago, I invited the Fathers of Mercy to lead a mission in our parish. They accepted and assigned Fr. Ricardo Pineda to lead us in that mission. Fr. Pineda will preach at the weekend Masses of February 22-23 to encourage all of us to participate in the four nights of the mission. From Monday through Thursday of that week we will have the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 6:00 pm, the same time that confessions will also begin. Then at 7:00 pm, Fr. Pineda will offer us a presentation based on the sacraments. At 8:00 pm we will have Benediction (solemn blessing with the Blessed Sacrament) and we will sit down again to hear confessions.

On Monday and Tuesday the topics will be given in English and on Wednesday and Thursday in Spanish. I am trying to organize a system so that there will be simultaneous translation through your phones so that you can better participate each night.

The vast majority of ministries and meetings on those four nights have been cancelled so that more parishioners can participate in the mission. This includes the religious education students and families, who are required to attend at least one of the nights. But as I have said before, the invitation is for you to listen to the presentations all four nights.

The mission is a time of spiritual renewal. We all need to grow in our relationship with God to better serve Him in our relationships with others, especially our loved ones. The more we know and understand our faith, the more we can enter into that peace that only the Lord can offer us. I encourage you to invite your neighbors, those who attend other parishes, your family and friends, to give themselves this opportunity to have their souls renewed during our parish mission week.

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas,

Quisiera renovar mi invitación para que todos asistan a la Misión Parroquial que tendrá lugar del 24 al 27 de febrero.

¿Qué es una misión parroquial?

Una misión parroquial es una renovación espiritual para una comunidad, que incluye la adoración eucarística, la escucha de confesiones, y la predicación del arrepentimiento y la catequesis.

Desde hace dos años le hice la invitación a los Padres de la Misericordia para que dirigieran una misión en nuestra parroquia. Ellos aceptaron y nos asignaron al P. Ricardo Pineda para que nos liderara en esa misión. El P. Pineda predicará en las Misas del fin de semana del 22 y 23 de febrero para animarnos a todos a participar en las cuatro noches de misión. Del lunes al jueves de esa semana tendremos la exposición del Santísimo Sacramento a las 6:00 pm, la misma hora en la que también iniciarán las confesiones. Luego a las 7:00 pm, el P. Pineda nos ofrecerá un tema basado en los sacramentos. Y a las 8:00 pm tendremos la bendición con el Santísimo Sacramento y nos sentaremos nuevamente a escuchar confesiones.

El lunes y martes los temas se darán en inglés y el miércoles y jueves en español. Estoy tratando de organizar un sistema para que haya traducción simultánea por medio de sus teléfonos. Así podrán participar mejor cada noche.

La gran mayoría de ministerios y juntas en esas cuatro noches se han cancelado para que más parroquianos puedan participar de la misión. Esto incluye a los estudiantes y familias de la catequesis, para quienes es requerido que asistan, por lo menos una de las noches. Pero como ya lo he repetido, la invitación es para que escuchen los temas las cuatro noches.

La misión es un tiempo de renovación espiritual. Todos necesitamos crecer en nuestra relación con Dios para servirlo mejor en nuestras relaciones con los demás, especialmente nuestros seres queridos. Entre más conozcamos y entendamos nuestra fe, podremos adentrarnos en esa paz que solo el Señor nos puede ofrecer. Los animo para que inviten a sus vecinos, a aquellos que asisten a otras parroquias, a sus familiares y amigos, para que se den esta oportunidad de tener la renovación de sus almas en nuestra semana de misión parroquial.
